Background of the study

Integrated marketing automation combines various digital tools and platforms to streamline marketing processes and deliver personalized customer experiences. For tech startups in Kano, Nigeria, leveraging marketing automation has become essential for retaining customers in a competitive environment. By automating tasks such as email campaigns, social media postings, and customer segmentation, startups can maintain consistent communication and foster ongoing engagement (Udeh, 2023). This integrated approach allows companies to deliver targeted content at the right time, resulting in improved customer satisfaction and loyalty. Marketing automation also provides real-time analytics, enabling businesses to measure campaign performance and adjust strategies promptly. However, challenges such as high implementation costs, data integration issues, and a steep learning curve often impede the full realization of these benefits. This study critically analyzes how integrated marketing automation influences customer retention for a tech startup in Kano, evaluating both the efficiency gains and the operational hurdles encountered. The aim is to provide actionable insights for optimizing automation strategies to boost long-term customer retention and overall business performance (Afolabi, 2024).

 

Statement of the problem

Tech startups in Kano face obstacles in fully utilizing integrated marketing automation for effective customer retention. Despite the potential for enhanced communication and personalized experiences, issues such as data silos, high costs, and complexity in automation workflows lead to suboptimal retention outcomes. This study seeks to identify these challenges and evaluate how automation can be better aligned with customer retention strategies, ensuring sustained engagement and loyalty (Udeh, 2023).

Its findings will help tech startups in Kano refine their automation systems, resulting in improved engagement and sustained customer loyalty. The research contributes practical recommendations to the evolving field of digital marketing automation (Afolabi, 2024).

 

Scope and Limitations of the Study

This study is limited to analyzing the impact of integrated marketing automation on customer retention within a tech startup in Kano, Nigeria.
